Git

Install Git on Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)

Install git by using macports

sudo port install git-core +bash_completion +doc

Added following to your .bash_profile for autocompletion to work

# bash completion (macports)
if [ -f /opt/local/etc/bash_completion ]; then
  . /opt/local/etc/bash_completion
fi

Install Git on Centos 5.2

Install the dependencies

  yum install gettext-devel expat-devel curl-devel zlib-devel openssl-devel

Get the git source code. Check latest version in http://kernel.org/pub/software/scm/git/

  wget http://kernel.org/pub/software/scm/git/git-1.7.3.2.tar.gz
  tar xvfz git-1.7.3.2.tar.gz
  cd git-1.7.3.2
  ./configure
  make prefix=/usr/local all
  make prefix=/usr/local install
